California takes its name from via California, in the Solari-Tortona district west of the centre. This is the via Tortona and via Savona area, the heart of Milanese design and of the Fuorisalone, with Armani/Silos and the Mudec museum close by. The station entered service on 12 October 2024 with the opening of the full blue line.
