Monumentale — overview
Monumentale is named after the Cimitero Monumentale, the great nineteenth-century cemetery that is effectively an open-air museum of funerary sculpture, with the tombs of Milan's leading families and the Famedio. The station has exits directly onto piazzale Cimitero Monumentale, and it was one of the two stops from which the tunnel boring machines were lowered to dig the second section. It opened on 11 October 2015.
