Porta Romana — overview
Porta Romana entered service on 16 December 1990 as the temporary terminus of the section from Duomo, and became a through station in 1991, when the yellow line was extended south to San Donato. It takes its name from the old gate in the Spanish walls, still standing in piazzale Medaglie d'Oro. The surrounding district is now one of the most sought-after in the city, and will host the athletes' village for the 2026 Winter Games.
