Bande Nere entered service on 18 April 1975 with the extension from Gambara to Inganni. Curiously, the 1953 metro plans had the red line's southern terminus right here: history went another way, and the role fell to Gambara until 1975. The station sits in piazzale Giovanni dalle Bande Nere and is equipped with lifts and a step-free route.
