Palestro — overview
Palestro is the stop for the Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli, Milan's oldest public park, and for the Natural History Museum inside it. The Modern Art Gallery at Villa Reale and the PAC contemporary art pavilion are a short walk away. The station belongs to the 1964 stretch and keeps the classic red-line layout: two tracks, side platforms, mezzanine above. On 27 July 1993 a car bomb planted during the mafia bombing campaign exploded in via Palestro; a plaque in front of the PAC remembers the five people killed.
