Sesto Marelli — overview
Sesto Marelli takes its name from Ercole Marelli, the electric-motor works that employed generations of local families. For twenty-two years, from 1964 to 1986, this was the northern terminus of the M1: every red-line train ended its run here. The station is underground, with two tracks and side platforms in the classic layout of Milan's first metro, and it has lifts and a step-free route — not something you can take for granted at the older stops on the network.
