Cairoli Castello — overview
Cairoli Castello is the stop for the Castello Sforzesco: the main entrance, under the Torre del Filarete, opens directly onto the square above the station. From there you reach the civic museums and Michelangelo's Rondanini Pietà, and can walk on through Parco Sempione to the Arco della Pace. Via Dante also starts here, the pedestrian axis that reaches the Duomo in ten minutes. The stop belongs to the 1964 stretch; the piazza Castello tram terminus, in use since 1917, had to be reorganised around the metro works.
