Porta Venezia — overview
Porta Venezia opens onto one of Milan's liveliest quarters, between the Bastioni, the Montanelli gardens and the Liberty-style streets around via Malpighi — Casa Galimberti above all. In the early plans the stop was to be called Oberdan. Its mezzanine was built unusually large by 1964 standards, in anticipation of an interchange that only materialised in 1997, when the Milano Porta Venezia railway station opened on the cross-city line. Today the district is also the heart of Milan's LGBTQ+ life and one of its most international places to eat.
